What Have You Learned About Jesus Lately? — Matt 28; Mark 16; Luke 24; John 20–21

Come, Follow Me: New Testament 2023 (June 26–July 2)

“Whatever questions or problems you have, the answer is always found in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ” (Russell M. Nelson).

As we finish reading the life of Jesus in our Come, Follow Me study, it’s a good time to stop and consider what you’ve learned about Jesus. What are the stories or words that drew you closer to Him? What answers have you found? Have you become more resilient because of your studies?

Here are a few of my new insights:

  • Christs meets people how they are. He came to the broken, the sinner, the paralyzed, the depressed, the anxious, the rich, the poor. His life is the definition of how to be inclusive. Every interaction, even His last living moments, demonstrate His love for imperfect people.

  • Christ meets people where they are. He was with them in dusty streets, on the lake shore, in their homes, on desolate roads, the water well and even in tree branches.  He finds us. He doesn’t stay detached high above us; He walks with us when we’re working and sweating and playing and praying. It doesn’t matter if we’re wearing our dirty clothes or our Sunday best, He is there.

“At all times, the Lord knows precisely where you are, and He knows your heart. If you feel lost, He will find you” (D. Todd Christofferson).

  • He loves us how we are but wants more for us and shows us the way to become better. His patience with our small steps forward and then a few steps backward is endless.

  • He never takes away our choice to grow or go away. He is always there waiting for us to turn back to Him as many times as we choose.

  • The stories of Jesus guide us in handling life’s difficult situations because when we ask, “What would Jesus do?”, we know the answer of what He did do.

Take time to write down what you’ve learned about Jesus lately. Document the stories that have touched your heart so you can return to them often and His life can show you the way over and over again.
