Our country has a mission statement

 In good times and troubled times, this mission does just what a life mission does – it acts as a sure foundation that guides, directs, and influences the setting of goals and the allocation of resources. How wonderful that by our country having this mission, we are free to write our own. 

When you see the flag this week, let it inspire you to consider what you want to do with your Life, Liberty and pursuit of Happiness – our precious gifts made in America.

The words of the US Constitution and Declaration of Independence represent a remarkable example of a mission statement for our country. One of my favorite lines from the Declaration of Independence is this:

 We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

 To remind us of this great mission, our country established an icon, the American flag, and a pledge that can be repeated regularly:

 I pledge Allegiance to the flag
of the United States of America
and to the Republic for which it stands,
one nation under God, indivisible,
with Liberty and Justice for all.
