Dreaming about a sleepover in the library
Growing up and all through college, the library was my home, my safe place. One of my most persistent dreams, besides being able to fly, is to be stranded in a library for days by myself. Forget food and friends, I could become satiated and comforted with books, spending as much time as I wanted in the rows of fiction, self-help, travel, children’s literature, picture books, and poetry. Don’t forget photography, interior design, hobbies, gardening, etc. Truly, isn’t this the best dream EVER!
It’s not hard to interpret my dream—I love books. As a therapist I’ve discovered that written words are a powerful partner in living well with a resilient spirit. The courage of Corrie Ten Boom in The Hiding Place, the clear and expressive poetry of Mary Oliver, and the simple life guidelines in The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz are samples of words that inspire, teach, comfort, and cheer us on.
I hope you’ll join Words of Wisdom and discover an uplifting source of ideas and strength. For now, it will alternate every other week with my blog posts. Be sure to share your favorite words of wisdom in comments.
