Come, Follow Me: Doctrine and Covenants 2025
(March 24–30)

Three Thoughts from Me:

  • I want partaking of the sacrament to be the highlight of my week, but I struggle to “keep an eye single” to the glory of the atonement of Christ. “Hasn’t that boy grown.” “Hey, Sister Wright has a new haircut.” “I haven’t seen that family before, wonder if they’ve moved into our ward.” “What should I fix for lunch?” And on it goes.

  • My study of Doctrine & Covenants 27 gave me some specific questions that could help me focus better. The revelation describes a grand sacrament meeting where we’re invited to be with divine dignitaries and includes a visual description of the preferred attire. ”Wherefore, lift up your hearts and rejoice, and gird up your loins, and take upon you my whole armor, that ye may be able to withstand the evil day, having done all, that ye may be able to stand” (D&C 27:15).

  • With this image in mind, here are some questions I’m going to experiment with to help me concentrate:

  • How did I follow Christ’s example this week? (Elder Eyring quote)

  • When was I protected by my covenants? (D&C 27:15)

  • When did I feel the Spirit pour over me? (D&C 27:18)

  • Where am I vulnerable or unprotected? (N. Eldon Tanner quote)

  • How can I strengthen my armor? (N. Eldon Tanner quote)

Two Thoughts from Others:

  • “As you examine your life during the ordinance of the sacrament, I hope your thoughts center not only on things you have done wrong but also on things you have done right–moments when you have felt that Heavenly Father and the Savior were pleased with you. You may even take a moment during the sacrament to ask God to help you see these things” (Henry B. Eyring, “Always Remember Him,” Ensign, Feb. 2018, 5).

  • “Examine your armor. Is there an unguarded or unprotected place? Determine now to add whatever part is missing. …Through the great principle of repentance you can turn your life about and begin now clothing yourself with the armor of God through study, prayer, and a determination to serve God and keep his commandments” (President N. Eldon Tanner (1898–1982), First Counselor in the First Presidency, “‘Put on the Whole Armor of God,’” Ensign, May 1979, 46).

One Thought for You:

  • How do you keep your focus during the sacrament?
